Auntie Joyce Mbabazi has been offering her catering expertise at Jeremiah House since 2014. She is the cook at Jeremiah House and has played a major role in ensuring that our youth receive nutritious meals each day. Additionally she helps them acquire some cooking skills. She is a single mother of 2 boys. Her goal is to own a restaurant and an outdoor catering services business in the near future.
Melissa travelled to Uganda in 2008 and while there met and was moved by the stories of many youth who were living on the street. In 2009, she returned and founded The Sanctuary, which has since grown and become Jeremiah House. She now resides in Toronto with her husband Johnson and two beautiful children. She is working as the director of a daycare in Milton, ON. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her family, reading and spending time at the beach.
Dave travelled to Uganda in 2013 and met the youth at Jeremiah House during his time there. He was very moved by the children’s stories and has been involved in working with Jeremiah House ever since. Dave resides in Guelph, ON and works as a pilot with Air Canada. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and running.
Johnson grew up in Uganda and met the youth of Jeremiah House while volunteering with a youth soccer program in 2014. He loved what Jeremiah House was doing and has been involved in the day-to-day working since then. Johnson currently resides in Toronto with his wife, Melissa, and is a semi-pro soccer player. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, playing soccer and maintaining a close relationship with his friends and family around the world.
Ann first travelled to Uganda in 2008 with Melissa. While she did not have the calling or vision that Melissa did to start this home, she has had a passion and calling to support Melissa and the youth of Jeremiah House ever since. Ann now lives with her husband and 2 girls in Waterloo, ON. She works part time and is also a stay at home mom. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her family and grabbing coffee with her friends.
Through Kim’s teaching career she met Rich, Melissa’s dad. After learning about Jeremiah House from the proud dad, Kim was so impressed that she became involved. She is the proud mother of 2 teenagers. In her spare time she enjoys photography, reading, swimming and spending time with her family.
